P2 Novice Paragliding Lessons
Upon completing the Introductory Course, if the student wishes to continue to become a fully certified novice pilot, able to fly without the oversight of an instructor, then they must complete the USHPA (U.S. Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association) requirements for a P2 rating. That is what this course is.
This course cost includes not only the ground school and flights for a novice/P2 rating, but also includes a thorough beginner to intermediate text book for the course, a 2-meter radio and radio harness, and a SupAir paragliding half face helmet for you to keep. Please note that all instructional fees and gear purchases are non-refundable.
The knowledge and skills required for this rating are taught in a Novice (P2) Paragliding Course, which includes ground school, lessons in ground handling and a minimum of 25 flights (including the flights obtained from the beginner course.) This Student Progress Record outlines the general requirements of a P2 rating.
The course follows the USHPA Pilot Proficiency requirements and the text book provided to you. The Novice Paragliding Course is offered as a group course and is already discounted as such. Special arrangements can be made with the school for private lessons, but they are substantially more expensive than this course.
You may use our gear as you start to learn but we ask that you 1) plan to purchase gear (new or used) THROUGH Peak to Peak Paragliding (it’s how we stay in business) and 2) purchase gear during the class so you can get used to it before you get signed off. We will help meet your budget to the best of our ability. Prices of new gear can be seen on our online store (there is a lot of range in price) and for used you should plan to spend at least $3,000 or more for a harness, reserve (we only sell new reserves) and a used paragliding wing.
Our Teaching Philosophy
Peak to Peak Paragliding focuses on the safety and competency of the pilot. We understand that people learn at different speeds and in different ways. So this course is designed to get most individuals through their 25 flights, novice paragliding skills or P2 rating and basic paragliding skills as prescribed by the U.S. Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association. We will not rush you. You can take as long as you like or come out frequently and learn in short order. We try and design our classes around your needs. More than anything else though, we do our best to make the experience fun and encourage you to laugh at yourself and be kind (to yourself and others).
